Trotec 4 - New Production Line
31.03.2021

Trotec invests in a new unpacking line.

Packaging, you can't ignore it. Every year, Trotec processes 200,000 tonnes of former food products, 25,000 tonnes of which are packaged using different types of plastic and other packaging materials. Due to the specific needs and processing of each type of packaging material, Trotec is now investing in new technologies to meet these new challenges.

With the new investment, which combines existing and new technologies, tailor-made machines and smarter production lines, Trotec is focusing on the stripping of multiple types of packaging, a higher capacity and even more efficient separation.

Trotec 4 Machines

Higher capacity

With this new line, Trotec plans to increase its production capacity from 2 to 5 tons per hour, a 150% increase in throughput.  This more efficient production line will allow Trotec to not only unpack more products in a shorter time, but also to process more types of packaging and products. During an 18-month trial period, Trotec will process former food products with this new unpacking production line, during which the process will be evaluated on a regular basis.

Collection of former packaging

With this new production line, Trotec wants to be able to sort packaging even better and ultimately reduce residual waste by 10%. Paper, cardboard and other high calorific waste will be sorted out more efficiently and delivered separately to a specialised recycling partner.

The new facilities and production line are currently being installed, programmed and tested. Everything will be in operation by May 2021.
